My name is Ankia, and I'm a qualified dressmaker and designer. I've inherited the passion for dressmaking from my grandmother. In 2000 I've graduated with a diploma in dressmaking and designing. The year after I graduated, the training institution gave me the opportunity to assist with training to all newcomers in the fashion world. I've grabbed this opportunity with both hands, as this was a way to upgrade my experience theoretically.
In the meantime, I've started my own small business from home. My main interest and specialty was designing wedding dresses, ball dresses and special function dresses. In early 2002 I spread my wings, by contracting to other specialty clothing boutiques. After a few months, I've decided to cut the middleman out, and started my own private studio. I also started to do fashion shows to promote my dresses.
In August 2006 my family and I immigrated to New Zealand from South Africa, and in December 2007 we opened our Boutique, Golden Gown, in Papakura. In early 2009 we've decided to relocate to Albany, just off Oteha Valley road. I specialize in Bridesmaid dresses, Ball gowns, Evening wear, Cocktail dresses and many more.
I am a very proud sponsor of Miss New Zealand world 2008, Kahurangi Taylor's evening dresses, thats been designed and made by myself, and Miss world 2008/2009 Pageant gowns, as well as Miss New Zealand India worldwide. |
